Sometimes it’s a verse I keep returning to. Sometimes it’s something I’m learning about trust, worship or following Jesus. And sometimes it’s simply a thought I don’t want to forget.
The Journal is where I share some of those things.

Songs rarely begin in the studio.
They often begin much earlier—with a thought, a Scripture, a prayer or something God has been quietly teaching us.
Here are some of the stories behind the music.
A note from John
Music gives me one way of expressing what’s in my heart, but sometimes three or four minutes isn’t enough.
There are thoughts behind the songs that don’t become lyrics. There are Scriptures I’m still sitting with and lessons I’m learning slowly rather than all at once.
Writing gives me somewhere to share those things without needing to turn everything into music.
I’m not writing here because I have all the answers.
I’m writing because I’m still learning too.
And if something God is teaching me helps someone else along the way, I’m grateful for that.
